LIBRARY BOOK TALK TO DISCUSS GRISHAM BESTSELLER

“The Litigators” Set for May 30th in Stratford

The Stratford Library “Books Over Coffee” program continues its 2012 series with a discussion of John Grisham’s current bestseller, The Litigators on Wednesday, May 30th at noon“Books Over Coffee” is hosted by Stratford educator and author Kathleen Faggella.

The partners at Finley & Figg—all two of them—often refer to themselves as “a boutique law firm.”  What they really are is a two-bit operation always in search of their big break. Their specialties are quickie divorces and DUIs with the occasional jackpot of an actual car wreck thrown in. After twenty plus years together, Oscar Finley and Wally Figg bicker like an old married couple but somehow continue to scratch out a half-decent living from their seedy bungalow offices in southwest Chicago. Meanwhile, David Zinc, a young but already burned-out attorney, walks away from his fast-track career at a fancy downtown firm, goes on a serious bender, and finds himself literally at the doorstep of their firm. Once David sobers up and comes to grips with the fact that he’s suddenly unemployed, any job—even one with Finley & Figg—looks okay to him.  The Litigators is the latest bestseller from the master of the legal thriller, John Grisham, author of The Firm, The Pelican Brief, A Time to Kill and The Brethren among many other novels.

“Books Over Coffee” will be held in the Stratford Library’s Lovell Room beginning at noon on May 30th. Participants are invited to bring a bag lunch to the program and coffee and tea is also served.  Limited reading copies of The Litigators are currently available for loan at the library’s Circulation Desk.  “Books Over Coffee” titles are also available on Kindle and Nook eReaders for limited loan at the library.
