Tenth Annual Fundraiser, “All You Need is Love”, Set for April 27th
The Stratford Library Board of Trustees will present its annual major fund-raiser for the library on Saturday, April 27 beginning at 6:30 pm. The tenth annual event entitled “All You Need Is Love” will have a “Songs of the Sixties” theme and is a gala evening of musical vignettes, lavish hors d’ouevres, fine beverages and delectable desserts. All proceeds will benefit the library’s collections.
The evening will feature top-notch entertainment by “Get Back New York”, a tribute to the Beatles with performances of many of the great songs by the legendary Liverpool band. It’s not the Beatles, of course, but it’s an incredible simulation! In a separate venue, “Something Extra”, a women’s a cappella group from Yale University, will also perform. Founded in 1977, the group of 16 fabulous women will perform the best music of the popular “girl groups” from the 1960s.
The Stratford Library will be transformed for the benefit to accommodate two special performance areas and 200 guests. A cocktail buffet of delicious edibles, full dinner and fine desserts with an open bar will be provided by David M. Grant Caterers. The Event Decorators of Bridgeport will provide a variety of magical balloon creations and 1960s pop-art for the benefit. Dancing will be encouraged. Vacation prizes and entertainment packages including tickets to the David Letterman show will be included in a special silent auction.
Event co-chairpersons are Robyn Proto and Doreen Jaekle of Stratford with committee members Barbara Blosveren, Judith Crudo, Jim Duffy, Maria Ferrera, Tory Florek, Karla Glad, Shelley Hall, Tom Holehan, Paula Nizzardo, Barb Poisson, Heather Silverman, Cynthia Smith and Sheri Szymanski. The Honorary Chairman for “All You Need Is Love” is Stratford Mayor John A. Harkins.
Major sponsors for the benefit currently include People's United Bank, Aquarion Water Company, Beth and John Morgan, Stratford Land Development, Joel Pleban, Berchem Moses & Devlin, Milford Bank, The Community's Bank and United Illuminating/Southern CT Gas. Additional sponsors and program advertisers are being sought.
Tickets for the event are available in three separate categories: Supporting Cast ($75), Director ($100) and Producer ($150). Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Black tie optional, 1960s attire is welcome. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Call the Stratford Library for an invitation or further information at 203.385.4166.
